Description

Volunteers will be assisting the Society in painting the exterior of its 125-year-old Turner train depot that now rests at the Wabash Valley Railroad Museum.

The Society is the founding organization of the Wabash Valley Railroad Museum in Terre Haute. This historical structure functions as the Museum’s gift shop for its guests and requires a fresh coat of external paint to restore it to its original beauty and improve the guest experience. The Museum is 100% operated by volunteers. This project will provide networking opportunities and assist the Society in furthering its mission of preserving and exhibiting the railroad history of the greater Wabash Valley.

The Society will provide the required materials. To optimize their work experience:

Depot: Volunteers are asked to wear clothing suitable for painting. Volunteers may also bring their own personal brush, step ladder, and/or safety goggles if so desired.

Platform: If we must work on the platform in lieu of the depot project due to weather conditions, volunteers are encouraged (though not required) to bring an impact driver or cordless drill with screwdriver bits, if available, to assist with construction.
