Volunteer: Chaplain's OfficeThe Chaplain’s Office utilizes lay volunteers as room visitors. These volunteers make room visits Monday through Friday. The room visitors introduce spiritual care services to patient and notifies staff of any requests. We currently have 15 volunteer chaplains, but we can always use more. The chaplains are assigned one day per month to serve the patients of Union Hospital. We also have ICU Waiting Room lay volunteers who serve morning, afternoon, or evening shifts Sunday through Saturday. Volunteers act as a liaison between the families and the staff and patients in ICU. These volunteers commit to a minimum of three hour shifts. Besides providing volunteer services to the hospital, the Service League plays a key role in raising money to purchase necessary equipment and services. In the past five years, the Service League has raised more than $400,000, which is donated to the hospital. Membership dues are $5 annually for those actively volunteering.
