Volunteers may assist in a number of ways:

Work directly with patients and families by providing individual patient support/companionshipProvide support at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union HospitalRead to the patientAssist with administrative work such as answering the telephone, preparing new patient admission folders, restocking the family kitchen, etc.

Wherever your talents lie, The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care/Hospice of the Wabash Valley has a place for them. Veteran volunteers share a cultural bond that opens a door of trust with our veteran patients.

Volunteers may assist in a number of ways:

Work directly with Veteran patients and families by providing individual patient support/companionship Assist Veterans and their families in reminiscing/telling service related, as well as life stories Provide Veteran support by visiting at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union Hospital Provide caregiver respite to allow the primary caregiver time to run errands, go to doctor appointments, etc. Assist with bereavement support for Veteran families/caregivers Assist with special events including taking part in pinning ceremonies to recognize patient time in the military
