Who We Are

The Wabash Independent Living and Learning Center, Inc. (The Will Center) is a nonprofit, community based, nonresidential  organization that is run by and for people with disabilities. Our mission is to “empower people with disabilities to ensure that they have full and complete access to community resources to promote their independence”.  The Will Center provides services to residents of Vigo, Clay, Putnam, Parke, Owen and Vermillion counties regardless of the type of disability, age, gender or the ethnicity of the individual.

The “Ramps For Freedom Program” was created by The Will Center to empower people with disabilities to ensure that they have full and complete access to their personal environment as well as the community. The Will Center in partnership with Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) and Servants At Work (SAWs) construct high quality, treated, wheelchair ramps that meet ADA Standards. Since the beginning of The Ramps For Freedom Program, The Will Center has constructed more the 250 wheelchair ramps for many children and adults within our community.

What We Do

The Ramps are provided to individuals at no charge.  Our funding comes from generous grants and donations from local businesses and citizens. The actual construction of the ramps is prefab work done at WVCF and assembled by volunteers on site. The Will Center is constantly seeking volunteers to help with these builds. So, if you are someone that wants to help make a change in our community, please become a fan of our page to receive updates on when projects are being planned.
